Jeanette Losee was born and raised in a tiny town in Upstate NY. She spent her senior year of high school as an exchange student in Japan fully immersed in the culture and experience through Rotary International. She received her Associates of Arts from Adirondack Community College, her Bachelors from University of Massachusetts-Amherst with a major in legal studies and with a minor in Japanese. She received her Master’s at American Military University in Emergency Management.
Jeanette isn’t a stranger to hard work and dedication. She served in the United States Navy Reserve for 9 years as a Corpsman with Amphibious Construction Battalion TWO (ACB2) for 6 years and with the Marine Aircraft Group 49 for 3 years. She spent 2004-2005 serving in Iraq and was sent on Active Duty Support Work detail to London, England on the anniversary of 9/11 to augment security at the United States Embassy. She also served in the New York State Guard as well as the Texas State Guard, deploying for Super Storm Sandy and Hurricane Harvey assisting with relief efforts at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson shelter in Dallas, helping to providing emergency shelter and services to 5,000 people.
Jeanette now enjoys a quieter life living in rural Southwest Virginia serving her community in emergency management with a focus on public health. With 30 years of experience and training in emergency management, she has been able to utilize her knowledge to better advance her community to safer standards.
